For generations the Bafaro have been pro- ducing the wine they drink, without ever disdaining the tasting of novelty and the unknown. Exotic wines, innovative expe- riments and unusual combinations are part of everyday life. Red, White and any other type is what the generations of our family have in common: the search for the best grapes, the most secret “recipe” and the unique flavor.
The production of the Acrone Arco-wine is the result of a careful study of literary, iconographic, and archaeological sources. Every aspect is studied in detail, to reconstruct the ancient winemaking process, it is experimental archeology.
The am- phorae design is unique, not marketable, becau- se is the result of mine personal researches that they melt the characteristics of the amphorae of the past creating the maximum best result du- ring fermentation and refinement of the wine.

Exotic wines, innovative expe- riments and unusual combinations are part of everyday life. Red, White and any other type is what the generations of our family have in common: the search for the best grapes, the most secret “recipe” and the unique flavor. It is in this context, on an international scene, where niche wine has now carved out its living spaces, that it was decided to create what for us is the symbol of excellence, the pinnacle of hi- storical research in the oenological field . Francesco Gabriele Bafaro, career archa- eologist, winemaker by vocation, is the creator and founder of this archaeologi- cal-oenological company. This family-run structure, however, could not do without supporting elements such as Raffaele Ba- faro, expert for decades in the field of wi- nemaking. Maria Fusaro, who never mis- ses the right delicacy to suggest in tasting the Acroneo. Each time offers new expe- riences to the palate of the lucky taster. Gaia Bafaro who, with his art and know- ledge, makes the creation of this product inextricably linked to the family herita- ge of wisdom, culture and tradition. A glass of Acroneo wine, whether Arkon or Elektron will give you the joy of an eve- ning with friends, the family warmth and the thrill of legend. The true vocation of Acroneo wine is to be born from the myth and delivered to modernity thanks to the rediscovery of techniques now remote.

Calabria is a region that can boast an ancient and prestigious tradition con- cerning the production of wine. In an- cient times it was called Enotria from the name of the ancient people that led by King Enotro came from Arcadia se- venteen generations before the Trojan war, as Dionysius of Halicarnass tells us (I 11, 2-4; 12,1). The agriculture at the Enotri was already developed and the vine was not absent, as evidenced by their name, which in Greek designates the vineyard stake. Famous in the myth were the vineyards cultivated by this ancient people in Calabria, an ancestral homeland of wine. Still during the pe- riod of Magna Graecia and then throu- ghout the Roman era famous were the wines produced in the Bruttium (name used by the Romans to indicate Cala- bria). In this territory rich in history, art, natural and landscape riches, we find the modern town of Acri, the he- adquarters of our company located in the province of Cosenza. Acri resting on three fertile hills, according to some scholars, the ancient city Pandosia, ca- pital of the Enotri people and home of the mythical King Acroneo men- tioned in Book VIII of the Odyssey as one of the principles that welcomed Ulysses. It is precisely in honor of this story that our wine is called Acroneo..
When I was asked to collaborate with Gabriele Bafaro's Archeo-Oenological company, I accepted it enthusiastically and intrigued. The real possibility, not declaimed only in words of "marrying" the modern knowledge of oenology with ancient traditions, immediately convinced me. It is, in effect, a matter of experimenting with micro-vinifications of ancient Calabrian native vines, using amphorae as a place to "rest" the wine before bottling. Alongside this niche production and of great prestige, wines are elaborated with long aging in French oak barrels with the classic native vines such as: magliocco, gaglioppo, calabrese. Beyond these product lines, there is the exciting challenge of natural wines, in search of ancient flavors and emotions
